We need your help.
Across the Thai–Myanmar border, extraordinary young people are rebuilding their lives after fleeing conflict, forced conscription, and persecution. Many arrived with nothing; no income, no safety net, no clear future, yet they continue to choose courage over fear.
The team that Seedbeds UK works alongside on the border is part of the democratically elected government of Burma, forced into exile when the military seized power in February 2021.

This remarkable group, themselves displaced and living in precarious conditions, have devoted their lives to ensuring that vulnerable Burmese people, both inside the country and in Thailand, are given a genuine chance to survive and rebuild.
They serve tirelessly in too many ways to list. Through our partnership as Seedbeds Thailand, they deliver:
- Social Enterprise Training – incubating and mentoring new ethical businesses through a Change Incubator programme.
- Vocational Skills Training – including mobile phone repair, sewing, Thai and Japanese language classes, electrical engineering, and other employability pathways.
- Trauma & Emergency Support – responding to crisis, identifying and supporting safe houses for those fleeing forced conscription, and assisting newly arrived migrants in acute need.
They carry out all of this while also functioning as a government in exile; preparing policies, systems, and structures for the rebuilding of a democratic Burma rooted in justice and dignity.
The Hidden Reality
For nearly five years, these six core team members have lived in limbo, expecting to return home. During that time, their savings have disappeared. Assets have been sold. Personal security has eroded.
To survive, they are tutoring online late at night or selling snacks after long days of intense humanitarian work, simply to get by.
The workload they carry is immense. The emotional burden is heavy. And yet they continue because others are even more vulnerable than they are.
We believe this is not sustainable. And we believe they deserve better.
In the 5 years we have worked closely with them, they have never asked us for anything for themselves. I personally have lived close up with them for a prolonged period and seen first-hand the sacrifices they make. I trust and recommend them completely.
This Is Where You Come In
We are seeking 10 people willing to commit to £50 per month.
Together, this will provide a modest living allowance of 3,000 Thai Baht per month for each of the six team members, enough to stabilise their basic needs and free them to focus fully on their life-saving and future-building work.
So far, 3 people have already committed, we are now looking for 7 more to complete this support. Funds can be given to Seedbeds UK, GMP in Australia or via The Border Consortium, a registered charity in the UK.
