Seedbeds School for Shalom: A New Chapter Begins

by | Oct 30, 2025 | 0 comments

What a joy it was to see so many of our MA students graduate last Saturday! Amidst the pomp and ceremony at the University of Manchester, there was a deep sense of recognition, gratitude, and hope. These moments remind us that learning can shape lives, and that the best is yet to come.

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news: Seedbeds has formed a new collaboration with Nazarene Theological College (validated by the University of Manchester) to establish the Seedbeds School for Shalom as a centre for recognised, formative, and practice-based community leadership development. This partnership formalises and expands on our MA and PhD work with NTC over the past nine years.

Building on our locally based Change MakersChange Incubators and Pioneers programmes, the Seedbeds School for Shalom invites high-capacity local leaders from around the world to journey together in cultivating shalom, justice, and transformation from within their communities.

10–17 January 2026, at Nazarene Theological College, Manchester

Explore how the Church’s mission of social transformation is lived out through justice and mercy in cross-cultural and urban contexts.

It’s still possible to apply for January start, but do it now!

PT7690: Resilient Discipleship

Tutors: Dr. Ash Barker (Seedbeds School for Shalom) & Dr. Sally Mann (Red Letter Christians UK)

30 May – 6 June 2026, at Nazarene Theological College, Manchester

What sustains Christian discipleship and leadership in complex urban contexts? This module explores biblical, theological, and practical frameworks for faithful and resilient engagement in our cities.

Both these units can be taken as part of an MA in Theology (Humanitarian Development and Social Justice) and other MA pathways (awarded by the University of Manchester).

Let’s continue learning, growing, and building together for the flourishing of our communities and the healing of our world.

Shalom,

Rev Dr Ash Barker
